Some of you may have already heard, but for those of you who havent: On November 6th, my fellow Semester at Sea student Andre Ramadan died of unknown medical causes. Id only met him briefly and didnt know him very well, but Ive spoken to people who did, and, well. Its like a storm cloud is hanging over the ship. People are only just starting to believe that he wont be coming back.
We held an interfaith memorial service today, followed by a sea burial in which every member of the community throws a flower overboard. My thoughts go out to Andres family and friends who were expecting to see him get off the ship in San Diego, whole and happy and full of amazing stories. How do you deal with that?

He was a good kid, but Semester At Sea is full of shit. I heard about how they responded to the incident - by confronting his closest friends on the ship and accusing them of being involved in his death just hours after the news hit. Semester At Sea knows exactly what happened; they did all along. However, they are so concerned for their reputation that they claim it was "unknown medical causes". They turned around and then kicked off most of his close friends on the ship. What a way to react to a good person dying..
